Our History

Established:   1992, Sheffield, England

Founder: Carol R. Gray

  • Served as an advisor to the United Nations, the Peace Keeping Forces in Bosnia and Croatia, and the Ministry of Defense in Great Britain
  • Started HUGS International TLC after witnessing the emotional trauma of families caught in the front line villages during the Balkans crisis
  • Mother of seven children
  • Has led countless numbers of convoys of food and supplies

Countries:     Croatia, Bosnia, Russia, Kosovo, Honduras, Liberia and Ghana

Successful Projects:

  • Led convoys, which kept whole villages alive with packaged food parcels
  • Built a school and supplied it with books, musical instruments & supplies
  • Purchased milk cows and baby chicks for families to help them become more self-sufficient
  • Outfitted hospitals with emergency and operating room equipment
  • Provided quilts and clothes for orphanages and homes for handicapped children
  • Restored a kitchen and bathrooms in a bombed out hospital in Sarajevo
  • Delivered Christmas gifts (along with “Father Christmas”) several times to orphanages
  • Provided musical instruments to a special school for traumatized children
  • Completely refurbished a senior citizens home, including a hair salon
  • Cleared mines from former garden areas, provided seeds and assisted local residents in planting gardens
  • Supplied new kitchen and bathroom fixtures in war-torn villages
  • Provided ambulances to assist in recovering war victims (which are still used to provide medical services)
  • Provided trucks to a school and an orphanage
  • Sent a convoy of aid in June, 1999 to help refugees returning to Kosovo
